Club night is held every Thursday starting at 19.00 and is an opportunity to meet fellow club members, find out about upcoming activities such as open water swims and carnivals, as well as general social events.
From 19.30 there are timed races, where you can compare your times with other swimmers and your own previous times. Two or 3 races are held followed by a handicap swim or relay which gives swimmers a chance to shout encouraging or disparaging remarks at their fellow members. A points system compares your current times with your base time and for those who show improvement, there is the chance to win the ‘Marlin of the Month’ award.
Swimming is followed by cheese and biscuits in the meeting room.
On the first Thursday of each month, there is the hearty meal night when everybody brings a plate of food to share. This is an excellent opportunity to sample a variety of foods prepared by other members (or their wife/partner/Mum).
